Education and Skilling

RSHMU focuses on promoting access to education for orphans and other vulnerable and needy children within the communities it serves. Education remains one of the organization’s core objectives, aimed at empowering children and young people through learning and skills development.

Currently, RSHMU supports the education of 113 orphans by paying school fees across different levels of education. The education support program has been successfully implemented for more than three years, enabling beneficiaries to remain in school and pursue their academic goals.

Through this initiative, beneficiaries are equipped with knowledge, practical skills, and opportunities that prepare them for the job market, entrepreneurship, and self-employment, thereby improving their future livelihoods and contributing positively to their communities

Housing for the Vulnerable and Needy

RSHMU has implemented more than 20 housing projects aimed at providing safer and more dignified living conditions for vulnerable members of the community, particularly widows and orphans facing severe social and economic challenges.

These housing initiatives have significantly improved the wellbeing, hope, and dignity of the beneficiaries by offering secure shelter and a renewed sense of stability and belonging. The projects have mainly benefited communities in Kasese District and Ntungamo District.

The Ministry continues to work tirelessly to identify and support more prospective beneficiaries as it advances its mission of restoring dignity, care, faith, hope, and community service among vulnerable populations.

Livestock for Livelihood

RSHMU supports vulnerable households and community members through livestock livelihood initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable living and economic empowerment. Beneficiaries receive support in the form of poultry, goats, and pigs to help improve household income and strengthen food security.

In addition to livestock distribution, the organization conducts training programs on proper animal care, management, and sustainability practices to ensure long-term benefits for the beneficiaries.

The livestock products, including eggs and pork, have also contributed to improving nutrition and reducing malnutrition among vulnerable families by promoting access to a more balanced diet.

As part of its future expansion plans, RSHMU hopes to broaden this program by introducing fish farming and beekeeping initiatives to further enhance livelihoods and community resilience

Agriculture for Nutrition Support

RSHMU implements agriculture initiatives aimed at boosting domestic food production through sustainable and organic farming methods for both household consumption and commercialization.

The organization engages communities in the cultivation of crops such as bananas, tomatoes, groundnuts, and a variety of fruits to promote sustainable living, improve household incomes, and strengthen food security.

This project plays a vital role in combating malnutrition by increasing access to nutritious foods and encouraging healthy feeding practices within vulnerable households and communities

Pastoral and Community Outreach

RSHMU considers community engagement to be a vital part of its mission and organizational culture. The Ministry has carried out numerous outreach programs targeting schools, hospitals, NGOs, churches, and families within the communities it serves.

These outreach activities are conducted with the support of a public address system, a pastoral vehicle, and motorcycles, which enable the team to effectively reach different communities, including remote areas.

In addition, RSHMU has organized and participated in radio talk shows on local radio stations to raise community awareness, promote social transformation, share messages of hope and faith, and mobilize support for vulnerable populations

Water and Hygiene

RSHMU has worked tirelessly to extend access to clean and safe water to vulnerable and needy communities, particularly in Kasese District and Ntungamo District.

Many of the houses constructed for widows and orphans have been supplemented with rainwater harvesting tanks to provide relatively safe water, especially during periods of water scarcity. The organization aims to further improve the quality and efficiency of these water harvesting systems in future projects by adopting better and more sustainable water harvesting technologies.

In promoting hygiene and sanitation, RSHMU supplies sanitary pads to school-going girls to help them overcome menstrual health challenges and maintain their dignity, confidence, and school attendance. The organization also distributes bar soap to school children at the beginning of academic terms to encourage proper hygiene practices.

Additional hygiene and sanitation support includes the provision of essential items such as mattresses and shoes to vulnerable children and families, thereby improving their health, wellbeing, and quality of life
