Support the Widow Project

Amount Needed:
$35,000

Rise and Shine Humanitarian Ministries of Uganda (RSHMU) has made a meaningful impact through the Support the Widow Project, an initiative dedicated to restoring dignity, safety, and hope to widows in vulnerable communities across Uganda.

This project serves widows in Kasese District (Western Uganda) and Ntungamo District (Mid–South-Western Uganda). Many of these women lost their husbands to HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases, and a number of them are themselves living with HIV. Most are elderly, weak, or living with chronic illness, making daily survival extremely difficult.

Through the generosity of our friends and partners, 24 widows have already been supported, with funds used to construct 6 permanent homes at a total cost of UGX 81,407,464.68(USD 26,260.44) each costing UGX 13,567,910.78 (USD 4,376.74). These homes have provided safety, dignity, and renewed hope.

However, 8 widows are still living in extremely dangerous conditions, in fragile mud-and-stick huts that are at constant risk of collapse. Some of these shelters are destroyed during floods, while others harbor snakes and other life-threatening dangers. Tragically, such huts have been known to collapse while people are inside.

To complete this vital work, RSHMU requires a total of UGX 108,543,280 (USD 35,013.96) to construct permanent, safe homes for all remaining widows in need.

Beyond housing, these widows urgently require food, clothing, medical care, and assistance with ongoing medical expenses. Many have no steady source of income and depend entirely on the kindness of others.

These are God-fearing women who have endured profound hardship through no fault of their own. With your love and support, we can restore their dignity, protect their lives, and remind them that they are not forgotten.

Your support can transform lives.
