Vocational Skills Project

Amount Needed:
$3,800

RSHMU believes that providing marketable and life skills for our youth and other vulnerable people is the fastest way to immediately improve their livelihood with the greatest urgency.

We endeavor to impart vocational skills to our older orphans and other vulnerable people who are not able to attend the formal education and academic classes in the schools.

With this project we train them to perform a myriad of valuable and basic skills including bar and liquid soap making, eco-friendly salable crafts, hair cutting and hair dressing, carpentry and cabinet making, and sewing and tailoring.

We are currently seeking support to buy two plots of land to construct the RSHMU Skills Center. The centers will be used for training the skills described above and to provide some basic needs to the vocational students as they are trained to provide for themselves.

The total cost for the plots of land is 70,000,000ugx ($22,580.64) and the construction of the Skills Centre themselves is 52,783,000ugx ($17,026.77). Finally, the cost to purchase the tools (sewing machines, craft tools, carpentry tools, etc.) and materials to be used by the learners is 11,000,000ugx ($3,548.38)

We go by the old parable: “give someone a fish and they eat today, teach them to fish and they live their entire lifetime”
