Food and Food Rights Project

Amount Needed:
$7,500
RSHMU has currently established six vegetable gardens incorporating organic gardening/farming whereby all the practices are eco-friendly. We use local materials to manage the land and its biodiversity is key to our farming practices. Our practices are aimed at maintaining our biodiversity by planting many local Ugandan varieties of plants, food and vegetables that are most resistant to our climate and other conditions. Our products are being consumed locally by our vulnerable population and some are even sold to schools and hotels around us to generate cash for our other projects. This very successful project has greatly improved our livelihood.
At the present time our farmers need 6 wheelbarrows, one motorcycle (motor-tricycle) that can aid with transporting our products to the market, and 6 water tanks along with several buckets.
The cost is as follows: 6 wheelbarrows each at 170000*6 =1,020,000ugx ($ 329.03), 1 motor tricycle is 8,300,000ugx ($2,677.41), 6 plastic water tanks each are 600,000ugx 600000*6 = 63,600,000ugx ($1,161.2), the 24 buckets are 12000ugx ($3.87) each for a total of 12000*24 =288,000ugx ($92.9), therefore 10,208,000ugx ($3,292.9) is needed for this project.
